Type: Architectural furniture production + AI-enabled design system

PLY is an architectural furniture brand founded in Spain in 2024, specializing in the production of high-end customized objects. Based in Barcelona and Vilafranca del Pened's, the project is currently in its early stage of development, with a new factory under construction to expand its manufacturing capabilities. The project operates at the intersection of physical manufacturing and generative AI. By utilizing architectural engineering principles, PLY creates furniture featuring a "rib-based" structural system. This methodology allows for the creation of complex geometries that are traditionally difficult to manufacture, using high-quality finishes such as microcement and liquid metal. The core of the business model is an AI-enabled design system that converts digital generative models into structural grids ready for CNC production. This automated pipeline enables mass customization, allowing architects and designers to realize unique forms without the typical constraints of manual production. In its short time in the Spanish market, the project has already established partnerships with approximately 10 showrooms and design partners in Barcelona. The focus is on the B2B sector, specifically targeting 4 and 5-star hotels and high-end residential developments that require durable, architecturally significant pieces. Measurable results include the successful migration of a specialized production team to Spain and the implementation of a manufacturing system that guarantees a structural lifespan of up to 30 years. The project continues to scale its operations through the development of a proprietary AI interface for direct customer interaction. Ultimately, PLY represents a significant technological breakthrough in the furniture industry. By bridging the gap between digital design and physical realization, the project sets a new standard for how technology-driven manufacturing can support the creative vision of modern architects and designers.
